APP-ELLES BUTTON USER GUIDE
1. Introduction
General presentation
Welcome to the App-Elles Connected Alert Button user guide. This personal safety device is designed to give you peace of mind in any situation. In case of danger, insecurity or distress, simply press twice in a row on the surface of the button to send an alert to your trusted contacts.
This button is offered as part of a pilot programme on connected devices (IoT) paired with the App-Elles app, led by Resonantes and its non-profit and institutional partners. Resonantes works continuously to improve and strengthen the app's services and features. The main goal of this pilot remains to let App-Elles users trigger an alert without having to pick up their phone.
After a first pilot carried out from 2018 to 2022 with professionals and their beneficiaries using the Connected Alert Bracelet, Resonantes is introducing this new accessory: a Beacon keychain tag connected via Bluetooth 5.0 and powered by a replaceable CR2025 battery.
Key points
- This button is a reliable, easy-to-use personal safety device. For optimal protection, wear it at all times and make sure it is always charged.

- Audio recording does not work on iOS when the alert is triggered from the button while the iPhone is locked or the app is closed (see: 6. Warnings).

5. Daily Use
How to wear the button
The button can be worn in several ways:
- Attached to a keychain.
- Slipped into your pocket.
Trigger an alert
- Press twice in a row (double-click) on the surface of the button.
- A vibration on your smartphone confirms that the alert has been received and triggered by the app.
Tip
Regularly check that your button is properly connected to your app before taking it with you. When your smartphone loses its connection to the button, the app may ask you to re-pair. Without this action, the button cannot communicate with your smartphone and your alerts will not be transmitted.
6. Warnings
Detection cycles
Once paired, your smartphone checks your button's activity at regular intervals (5-second cycle).
- If an alert is triggered from your button during a cycle, the information is received immediately by your smartphone.
- If an alert is triggered at the end of a cycle, the information will be read during the next scan.
This scanning process at regular intervals was put in place to limit its impact on your smartphone's battery.
Limitations on iPhone
iOS security and personal data protection measures governing connected accessories (IoT) offered by third-party developers limit the use cases of this button. If your iPhone is locked or if the app is not already launched and open on your iPhone, the button cannot automatically activate your microphone. Alerts are then sent to your trusted contacts without audio.
7. Care and Maintenance
Battery replacement
- Recommended frequency: Replace your battery every year or as soon as its level seems low.
- Battery level indication: Battery level is inferred from the visual brightness of the LED indicator. The lower the battery level, the dimmer the LED (until it goes out).
Cleaning the button
Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemicals and water.
8. Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions
